JUDY RYAN of FAIRFAX

We are ready for you......................

So, it's not too late to organize that closet.

In other words........get into that closet now. Remember the 3 R's. Review, Reuse, Recyle. Don't wait 'til you have a whole day. Who has awhole day? Doing it in segments is better than not at all. You can just do jackets/tops one day and pants another and so on and so on..........

Start by reviewing. If you didn't wear it this winter it wasn't because it wasn't cold enough! If you didn't wear it this past winter (and you're not pregnant or losing 50 pounds or broke a leg)then you are not likely to wear it next year.

Reuse it. Can you wear part of the item? For example, can you use the suit pencil skirt, but not the out of style jacket? Could you wear it if it was altered or mended or cleaned? Would you?

Recycle it. If you didn't wear it and can't reuse it, then it is time to recycle it. Give it to a shelter, put it on consignment......just get it out of your closet!

When you are all done with the review, put the same type garments together. Put your jackets together, facing the same way, with the same colors together. Who knew you had 6 black jackets???

Continue on category by category. When you are all done, throw out those crummy hangers and treat yourself to all the same color thicker wood or plastic. Oh, and remove all those dry cleaning plastic bags. They are bad for your natural fibers, esp. silk.

Parting thoughts.........even if this review leaves you with an emptier closet........it now contains what you really like to wear!! Don't put away for next year what you didn't like this year. It isn't going to get better!
